Lash extensions do not have an expiry date. They shed with your natural lashes, and every natural lash is on its own growth cycle — which is why a set never looks "finished" one morning and gone the next.
A full set stays looking full for two to three weeks. After that it thins gradually rather than failing. Most clients book fills every two to three weeks and keep the same set going for months.
Why the Timeline Is a Range, Not a Number
Each natural lash lives roughly six to eight weeks and takes its extension with it when it sheds. You lose a few natural lashes every day, so a set is always slowly turning over.
What moves you toward the short end of the range:
Oily skin around the eye — oil breaks down adhesive faster than anything else. Sleeping face-down, which physically drags lashes against the pillow. Rubbing your eyes, especially with allergies. Heat and humidity, and Miami supplies both. Waterproof mascara and oil-based cleansers or makeup removers.
What moves you toward the long end: cleansing daily with a lash-safe foam, brushing them out in the morning, sleeping on your back or side, and coming in for fills before the set thins out rather than after.
Fill Schedule and What Fills Cost
A fill replaces the extensions that shed and rebalances the set. Come in at two to three weeks and it is a fill. Leave it past four and there is usually not enough left to build on, which means paying for a full set again.

The three-week fill costs more because more lashes have shed and more work is needed to rebuild density. Booking at two weeks is usually the cheaper habit over a year, not the more expensive one.

The Cost Over a Year, Honestly
A Classic set at $150 followed by two-week fills at $100 works out to roughly $2,300 a year if you never miss one. Stretching to three-week fills brings it to about $1,880 but the set spends more of its life looking thin.
Neither number includes the days you skip. Most people fall somewhere in between, and the real variable is how consistent you are rather than which set you picked.
The First 48 Hours Matter Most
Adhesive keeps curing after you leave. Keep lashes dry for 24 hours, skip steam rooms, saunas and hot yoga for 48, and do not sleep face-down on the first night.
After that, daily care is simple: cleanse with a lash-safe foam, brush with a clean spoolie, keep oil-based products away from the lash line, and never pull an extension that feels loose — it takes your natural lash with it.
When to Take a Break
Extensions do not damage natural lashes when they are applied at the right weight and removed professionally. Damage comes from weight the natural lash cannot carry, from lashes glued together, and from picking.
If your lashes feel sparse or you notice tension, say so at your appointment. A lighter set or a few weeks off costs far less than regrowing lashes that were overloaded.
