Extensions Judged by the Year, Not the Appointment
The second shift is clients asking about move-up cost before installation cost. That is a more sophisticated question than we heard a year ago, and the right one — maintenance across twelve months usually exceeds the installation.
Individual-link methods dominate because they suit fine hair and give flexible placement. Installation from $550 for a set of about 180 links, move-ups from $60.

Nail Work Judged on Preparation
Russian manicure demand keeps rising, and the reason is simple: colour applied flush to the cuticle has no visible gap on day one and reads as regrowth three to four weeks later instead of two.
The related shift is toward BIAB and hard gel — a thin builder layer over the natural nail for people whose nails peel or break before reaching the length they want. Not an extension, no added length. $90 with gel, $110 with hard gel or BIAB.
Lash Sets Getting Lighter
Mega volume is no longer the default request. Hybrid — half classic lashes, half small fans — has become the most booked set, because it reads full without looking built and carries less weight on the natural lash. $180.
The lighter trend is partly aftercare literacy: clients understand that weight the natural lash cannot carry is what causes damage, not extensions in themselves.
Two Services, One Visit
A practical rather than aesthetic trend: clients booking nails and lashes at the same time, with two technicians working simultaneously. It halves the visit. Mention it when booking so the schedule is built for it.
What Miami Adds to All of This
Humidity is the variable that makes Miami different, and it affects every service above.
Lightened hair is more porous, so it absorbs moisture and swells — frizz on humid days and tone that shifts faster than in a dry climate. A $50 gloss added to a colour service is the cheapest way to keep blonde honest between appointments.
Extension bonds sitting in damp hair are the ones that slip, so drying properly matters more here than almost anywhere. Chlorine and salt water strip toner quickly — pool water is the fastest way to pull fresh blonde green. Rinse the same day, every time.
